For installing solar electric hardware in a home I believe there is a section of the CEC that applies. Which section is that and is it available on the web? A few months ago we were without power at our house for 11 days thanks to hurricane Juan. We're looking at a variety of alternative power sources, solar being one of them.

The section in the code is section 50. It is not (as far as I know) available on-line. It deals with solar cells in general, and not residential installations in particular. There is not much information, only 1 1/2 pages. Mostly marking and rating of equipment, and disconnecting means. If you borrow a code book to read it, don't forget to check the references in appendix B, there is some good information there.
